What a sourcing desk is
Lissea is a desk, not a plant. The desk owns no sewing lines and holds no certificates; it coordinates the people who do. On one side sits the buyer - a brand owner, a DTC operator, a marketplace seller, a distributor, a retail chain, a sourcing agent or a project buyer. On the other side sit partner plants, fabric mills and lace and elastic suppliers across the Chinese lingerie clusters. The desk sits in between: shortlisting plants for a specific line, writing the construction card, chasing samples, keeping a retained swatch per program, arranging inspection before every lot ships, and assembling the document pack that travels with it. When something slips between dye lot and container, one person is accountable for pulling the schedule back, and that person is the desk, not a whoever-answers-next inbox.
Where the plants sit
Chinese intimate apparel making concentrates in a few clusters, each with its own strengths. Shantou in Guangdong is known as the underwear capital: its Chendian and Gurao districts host over 2,000 plants, and bra making contributes more than 60% of Chendian's GDP, per local industry figures. Puning, also in Guangdong, holds the largest share of women's intimate apparel and homewear production in China; the local government reported more than 7,000 textile firms and an output above 140 billion yuan for 2025. Yanbu in Foshan adds design depth and high-end OEM experience, and Yiwu in Zhejiang concentrates thermal and seamless categories. The desk matches lines to clusters - a balconette program starts in Shantou, a seamless brief program looks at Yiwu - rather than forcing every program through one gate. More in industry clusters and how plants are audited.
How a program runs
- The brief arrives with lines, sizes, colors, quantities per color and the market the range is sold into.
- The desk shortlists two or three plants by line, fabric family and the certificate file they can show.
- Construction is written onto one spec card and agreed before sampling starts.
- Samples run 7-15 working days for catalog models and 15-25 days for branded samples.
- Every lot is inspected against the plan and the retained swatch before shipment.
- Documents travel with the lot: certificates, label files, packing lists and inspection records.
The full route, including what happens between each step, is described in the sourcing process.
What the desk does not do
Three boundaries keep expectations clean. Lissea holds no certificates of its own: OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and the other documents are held by partner plants per lot and verified per project. The desk publishes no prices anywhere: cost depends on fabric, lace, trim, hardware and quantity, so figures are issued per program in writing. And the desk makes no shaping, slimming or medical claims in any of its material - construction facts only, such as wireless builds, padding levels and four-way stretch - so that a brand's own marketing stays on solid ground. Shortlists are justified with plant capabilities, not decorated with rankings. These boundaries are not modesty; they are what makes the desk's written confirmations worth something, because the desk only commits to what a plant has actually shown it can hold per lot.
Who you work with
Programs are handled by a small desk team working in English, with one accountable contact from brief to shipment. Communication runs over email and WhatsApp business lines; documents arrive as PDFs attached to written summaries, so every decision leaves a trail the next person can pick up. The desk operates from Wenzhou in Zhejiang - an operating address, not a production site - while the plants it coordinates sit mainly in Guangdong and Zhejiang. The contact page lists the current routes and working hours.
Start a conversation
The working relationship usually starts with a written brief: lines of interest, sizes, colors, quantities per color, the market, and any certificate names the listing needs to carry. The desk replies with realistic options or with clarifying questions, then a shortlist with lead ranges attached. The quote form is structured to draw out what a plant will ask, and the case studies show how earlier programs were shaped - illustrative and anonymous, as program references should be. A first reply normally comes back within two working days, with questions before promises.
